This course is perfect for anybody involved in sports activities as it focuses on the common injuries likely to happen during a range of sporting activities. This course has been designed to give candidates the confidence as well as the necessary first aid knowledge and skills to effectively deal with these potential sporting incidents and emergencies.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR

This course is suitable for anyone involved in sporting activities. Sports Clubs & Organisations requiring Basic First Aid (extra topics relevant to sports injuries included). This course is popular with a wide range of sporting clubs including football, cycling, keep fit and loads more!! This is an ideal course if you are looking for a Basic First Aid Course relevant for sport. No previous experience is required to attend this course.

COURSE CONTENT
  • Communication, casualty care & looking after yourself
  • Unconscious adult & child, including Recovery Position
  • Adult & Child CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • How and when to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
  • Choking Adults & Child
  • Drowning
  • Bleeding – minor & major
  • Burns
  • Head injuries
  • Seizures & febrile convulsions
  • Chest pain
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Duration & venue: This is a 3.5hr course. Courses are held locally at our venues which you can book below or we are very happy if you would like us to deliver a bespoke session for your own group – a minimum of 6 people. Call or email if you are interested in us delivering a private group course.

Assessment: Continuous support & guidance from trainer during practical activities. You will be issued an ABCPR Training – Sports Essential First Aid Certificate, valid for three years.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (EFAW) – SPORTS

ABOUT

This course is suitable for anyone involved in sporting activities and that requires a regulated Basic First Aid qualification. This course covers the required HSE (First Aid) EFAW syllabus as well as the addition of essential sports relevant content. This makes this qualification more applicable and useful for those requiring this qualification.

This course provides the training for those involved in sporting activities and who are required to take on a first aider role within their club. Covering common sporting injuries, accidents as well as medical emergencies, this course will support people to become confident and skilled in providing first aid treatment for a wide range of sporting incidents. No prior knowledge or experience required.

This course complies with the Health & Safety Executive (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR

Anyone involved in sporting activities that are required to have a regulated First Aid training qualification including for example, Sports Professionals, Coaches, Referees, Players, Personal Trainers as well as Children & Youth Organisations. In addition, anyone involved in sporting activities that would like to undertake a more in-depth Sports First Aid training course this too is ideal for you.

• Managing an emergency – primary survey – casualty care

• Role of First Aiders

• Unresponsive casualty – recovery position

• CPR Adult & Child (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

• Importance of and how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

• Chest Pains

• Stroke

• Choking Adult & Child

• Shock

• Bleeding – grazes, splinters, embedded objects, amputated parts, knocked out teeth, mouth injury, eye injury, bruising, nose bleeds, objects in eyes

• Burns and scalds

• Head injuries, concussion, compression

• Spinal injuries

• Breaks, muscle, joint & dislocations

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Duration & venue: This is a 1 day (6hrs) course. Train at our venues, in-house or location of your choice. We are very happy if you would like us to deliver a bespoke session for your own club group – a minimum of 6 people. Call or email if you are interested in us delivering a private group course.

Group Size: The maximum number per course is 12, this allows focused teaching and lots of learner practice time

On the day: Each learner receives a training pack including a pack of resources to help them practice the skills covered. The pack includes a course companion workbook, first aid manual, bandages and more.

Assessment: Continuous assessment of learners throughout the practical activities. There will be question & answer quizzes & a written assessment to demonstrate learning. Lots of support and guidance from the instructor available for everyone throughout the course.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive an Emergency First Aid at Work – Sports certificate which is valid for three years and you will be eligible to work as a first aider. This certificate is transferable to other work places if required. For best practice, we support the HSE recommendation to complete an annual first aid skills update.
